Architect's Description:
This site is a flat long rectangle in Mill Valley, with neighboring houses on all 3 sides. There is a view of Mt. Tamalpais to the northwest that can be captured from both the first and second floor.
The Mt. Tam view is perfectly framed from the primary suite's large floor to ceiling window.
Since flat and sunny lots are highly desirable, we wanted to maximize not only the large front yard and gated drive, but also form an inner, more private courtyard, which would be an ideal site for an in-ground pool.
Mediterranean plantings including olive trees and wood siding enhances the natural setting. Lush pittosporum bushes line the western side of the property and will grow approximately 2 ft. a year, and if cared for properly will create up to a 15 foot robust privacy hedge. The kitchen/dining room mediates between the two outdoor spaces. The upper level is conceived as either a primary suite or 2 children’s bedrooms with a luxurious bath with floor to ceiling tile.
The property also features a large two car garage with a schweiss hydraulic door, perfect for storing vehicles or use as an indoor/outdoor gym.
The form of the house is undeniably modern with large almost 11ft high Fleetwood glass panel doors in the common areas and primary suite bringing the outdoor spaces inside. A large Pablo design pendant greets you upon entry and leads you to eleven foot high ceilings in the Kitchen and dining room with floor to ceiling custom white oak cabinetry with Quartzite countertops and backsplash, large 9 foot central island open to the dining room.
Thermador appliances throughout and Dowsing and Reynolds gnarled black hardware for texture. Adjustable cylinder downlights by Lucifer lighting over the Island and Wick Linear Chandelier by Regina Andrew in oil rubbed bronze above the large dining table with seating for nine.

Family-friendly Mill Valley is all about schools and sports. Nestled at the foot of Mount Tamalpais, homes in the Marin County city range from 500-square-foot hunter's cabins to multimillion-dollar mansions tucked away on winding, narrow lanes under the redwoods.
Coffee is king in Mill Valley. Downtown, three separate coffee shops do a brisk business. At the Depot, as the sunny town center is called, moms with strollers, kids on tricycles, and teenagers kicking hacky sacks relax in the open-air plaza, which now houses an independent bookstore and cafe. The Depot is also a jumping-off spot for hikers and mountain bikers heading up the slopes of Mount Tamalpais. Nightlife in Mill Valley is anchored by Sweetwater Music Hall, which hosts many well-known musical acts.
As the groomed playing fields at the community center attest, sports are big in Mill Valley, with soccer, baseball, and lacrosse leagues all popular.
